Expert advisors in skills-based qualifications and assessment

Qualifications Wales is seeking applications to award contracts for services for expert advisors in skills-based qualifications and assessment to participate in our newly established Welsh Baccalaureate (Welsh Bacc) Design Group. The Welsh Bacc Design group will be responsible for developing proposals for making changes to the design and assessment of the Skills Challenge Certificate (the skills-based qualification that sits within the Welsh Baccalaureate) at levels 1 and 2 (for Key Stage 4 and post-16 learners) and at level 3 (for post-16 learners).  Drawing on their experience in the field of skills-based qualifications, we are seeking up to three qualifications and assessment experts to be members of the Design Group, which will also comprise representatives from Qualifications Wales, Welsh Government, WJEC (the awarding body currently offering the Skills Challenge Certificate and Welsh Bacc), Estyn and the regional education consortia. Qualifications Wales will be chairing the meetings.

The role of the qualifications and assessment experts within the group will include:

  • conducting preparatory work before each meeting;
  • contributing actively and constructively to meetings;
  • providing high quality, specialist and technical advice to the Group.

We require applicants to commit to monthly one-day meetings at Qualifications Wales’ office from November 2018 until May 2019. We will then review the group’s functions, next steps and commitments at that point.

Successful applicants will be awarded a contract for services which will run for a period of three years subject to the termination and break clauses in the terms and conditions of contract, with the option to extend it up to for a further year. There is no guarantee of work under this contract.

The fee for the above work is £400 per day inclusive of any VAT.
