Summer 2021 results and overview of general and vocational qualifications

One of our key activities as the independent regulator of qualifications in Wales is to oversee the award of GCSE, AS and A level qualifications, the Welsh Baccalaureate and vocational qualifications, and this section contains full details of the qualifications awarded in summer 2021 together with background information and overview reports.

No exams were held again this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic so these are Centre Determined Grades, awarded by schools and colleges to their learners following guidance issued by us. Details of the process can be found on our website.

The GCSE Results Summary have been
republished on 19 August to include an
appendix with additional data tables in
response to requests from stakeholders
following results day.

Now that this year’s results have been published, learners and parents will be looking for advice and making decisions on the next steps. We’ve produced a graphic showing the options available to learners, from post-16 education through apprenticeships and university.
