What happens during marking?

Once students hand in their papers they are either sent directly to an examiner or are scanned to be marked online. The examiners are all qualified and experienced teachers of the subject they are marking. They also undergo face-to-face training each year.

Throughout the marking period, examiners are monitored to make sure they are marking accurately and consistently.

The principal examiner provides feedback about their marking and, if necessary, examiners who are not marking correctly are stopped and the papers remarked by another examiner.

We have a video guide to marking and awarding or you can read about it  in one of our Spotlight articles.
