Essential Skills Wales learners to receive calculated resultMonday 20 Apr 2020
All Essential Skills Wales learners due to complete their qualification before the end of July will receive a calculated result, it was announced today.
The result will be based upon the outcome that their tutor/assessor believed they would receive had they taken the tests. These judgements will be subject to strict oversight by the awarding bodies.
Qualifications Wales has worked closely with Agored Cymru, City & Guilds, Pearson and WJEC to ensure a common approach across awarding bodies.
“We are mindful of the impact the current lockdown is having on centres and learners and the implications for when centres resume learning later in the summer,” said Chief Executive Philip Blaker.
“As a result, we are also relaxing the assessment requirements for learners completing Essential Skills Wales qualifications from August to November.
“We would like to thank people for their patience as we worked through our options. We wanted to make sure we made the right decision, in the best interests of learners in Wales and to support their progression to the next stage of their learning and employment.”
