Qualifications Wales and WJEC to offer free programme of training for GCE Built Environment teachers
Qualifications Wales has designed requirements for a new GCE AS/A level Built Environment qualification, which will be available for delivery from September 2022. The qualification is currently being developed by WJEC.
The qualification has been designed to appeal to a wide range of learners with an interest in entering a professional or technical role in the construction and built environment sector or continuing their studies in this area in higher education, and could be taken alongside a wide range of other subjects.
To support practitioners to deliver this qualification effectively, Qualifications Wales is funding a free programme of training. The programme will be delivered by WJEC and include six virtual training workshops and provide a range of classroom resources. The first virtual session has been scheduled for 17 November 2020, 3:30 – 5:30.
The aim of the first session will be to work with attendees to identify the five priority areas for training and development, based on the tasks and content required in the new qualification. Each of these priority areas will be a primary focus of the subsequent training workshops, which will be held on a termly basis between January 2021 and July 2022.
