Publication of proposal to restrict qualifications – July 2018
Having considered the consultation responses we received, we are now consulting on a proposal to restrict and commission a number of qualifications in Construction and the Built Environment.
The qualifications in Construction and the Built Environment, which are due to be developed, have been agreed as priority qualifications, in conjunction with the Cabinet Secretary for Education in Wales. It is our intention that the new qualifications will replace a range of existing designated qualifications that are eligible for public funding in Wales. An indicative list of designated qualifications that are likely to be affected can be found here. The list is not exhaustive and will be reviewed regularly.
The priority qualifications can be found on Qualifications Wales' Priority Qualifications List (PQL), which also acts as a notification of our intention to restrict. The Notification of a Proposal to Restrict can be found at Annex A of the PQL and Forward Look here.
Interested parties may make representations in respect of the Proposal to Restrict these qualifications by 3 August 2018. Representation must be made in writing and should be sent to either:
Associate Director, Vocational Qualifications
Q2 Building, Pencarn Lane,
Imperial Park, Coedkernew
Newport NP10 8AR
Following the 3 August 2018 deadline, Qualifications Wales will review any representations made. Depending on the outcome of this notification, we propose to publish a determination to restrict. We would then start the commissioning process to appoint awarding bodies to work with us by Summer 2019, to develop high-quality qualifications in Construction and the Built Environment.
