Milestones within the strategic partnership between ourselves and Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol

To support and formalise the collaboration between Qualifications Wales and the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, a strategic partnership was formed with a commitment to develop a joint three-year action plan between 2022-2025 in order to increase commitment to the Welsh language.

Qualifications Wales and the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol are key organizations in the field of post-compulsory education and training in Wales.

Qualifications Wales is responsible for regulating non-degree qualifications in Wales and has four focus areas as part of its Dewis i Bawb strategy, to increase the availability of Welsh-medium qualifications.

Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol is responsible for developing and supporting Welsh-medium and bilingual provision across the post-compulsory education and training sector in Wales and supports the delivery of the Welsh-medium Further Education and Apprenticeship Action Plan.

Claire Roberts, Head of Strategic Engagement at Qualifications Wales, said:
"I am so proud of the collaboration and the successful partnership between Qualifications Wales and Coleg Cymraeg.

"With the Welsh Government's aim of reaching one million speakers by 2050, it is essential that organisations work together to ensure Welsh and bilingual opportunities in post-16 education. Together it is possible to reach our audiences of learners and make a difference.

Dr Lowri Morgans, Senior Manager of Further Education and Apprenticeships  from Y Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol said:

"Ensuring that qualifications are available through the medium of Cymraeg is crucial in order to ensure the success of the College's further education and apprenticeships strategy which gives learners across Wales opportunities to study Welsh.
We very much welcome the collaboration with Qualifications Wales.

"We are very proud that we have been able to formalize the relationship by launching a strategic partnership and that we are working together to implement a joint plan to address the challenges and take advantage of opportunities that arise."

In order to keep a record of the collaboration and the progress made, a report has been published. If you are interested to know more, read the report.
