Consultation for awarding bodies: securing the Made-for-Wales GCSE qualification offer

Qualifications Wales is seeking views from awarding bodies on its intended regulatory approach to securing new, Made-for-Wales qualifications that will support the new Curriculum for Wales.

It is important that all learners, schools and colleges in Wales can choose from the full range of new GCSEs intended to support the Curriculum for Wales. Therefore, Qualifications Wales proposes that any awarding body offering Approved, Made-for-Wales GCSEs would need to offer the full range of GCSE subjects. Awarding bodies would also need to make sure those qualifications were available for the duration of their approval period.

This consultation is open for eight weeks until Tuesday 14 March 2023. If you are a recognised awarding body that offers GCSE qualifications in Wales, or an awarding body that has an interest in providing the new, Made-for-Wales GCSEs, Have Your Say on the proposals.

To take part in the consultation, you need to register on Qualifications Wales’s Have Your Say engagement platform. Once registered, you can respond to the proposals online by completing this survey.
