- 730,416 certificates were awarded in the 2022 to 2023 academic year, an increase of 1.1% compared to the 2021 to 2022 academic year. WJEC was the awarding body with the largest market share, awarding 67.3% of all certificates, a similar proportion to last year.
- On 31 August 2023, there were 91 recognised awarding bodies in Wales, which is two fewer than in 2022. Since Qualifications Wales was established on 21 September 2015, there are 42 fewer recognised awarding bodies, a decrease of 31.6%.
- These statistics have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
